The Trail from Fajรฃ Grande to Ponta Delgada is a coastal hiking route on Flores that crosses one of the most dramatic landscapes of the Azores archipelago, combining steep cliffs, waterfalls that fall directly into the sea, historic fishing villages and lush Atlantic vegetation on a walk of approximately 12 km along the western coast of the island. It is considered one of the best trails in all of Macaronesia.

The trail begins in the village of Fajรฃ Grande, the westernmost village in Portugal, and ends in Ponta Delgada, with the possibility of return transport being arranged. The route is classified as moderate to difficult, with some sections of irregular terrain. Trekking shoes with good grip are essential, abundant water and sun and wind protection. The best time is between May and September, avoiding the wetter winter months.

Along the route it is possible to spot several impressive waterfalls and, with luck, dolphins offshore. Do not miss the mandatory stop near the Poรงo da Alagoinha, one of the most beautiful surprises of this extraordinary trail.
