Flores Seven Lagoons

The Lakes of Flores constitute one of the most stunning landscape ensembles in the entire Azores archipelago, bringing together seven lakes of volcanic origin distributed in the interior of Flores, framed by hydrangeas of intense blue that bloom profusely during summer and that gave the island its poetic name. Each lake has its own personality, with colours varying between emerald green and deep blue depending on the mineral composition of the waters.

Access to the lakes is via panoramic roads and hiking trails that allow exploring this world of water and vegetation at a leisurely pace. The busy season for hydrangeas is July and August, when the island transforms into a natural garden of vibrant colours. It is recommended to bring waterproof clothing, as Flores' climate is characteristically humid, with frequent fog that, far from detracting from beauty, adds an almost supernatural dimension to the landscapes.

Combine the visit to the lakes with the exploration of the Poรงo do Bacalhau and the Trail of Rocha dos Bordรตes for a complete day of immersion in the wild nature of Flores.
