Aldeia da Cuada
Updated: 16 Mar 2026
Aldeia da Cuada is a reference rural tourism project on Flores, resulting from the exemplary recovery of an abandoned village on the plateau of the island that was transformed into a set of rural tourism houses that preserve vernacular Azorean architecture, with basaltic stone walls, tile roofs and modernised interiors with contemporary comfort without losing the historical soul of the place. It is one of the most award-winning heritage rehabilitation projects in the Azores.
The houses of Aldeia da Cuada are distributed around an authentic rural nucleus, surrounded by pastures and hydrangeas, with views over the green hills of the island. Accommodation includes a fully equipped kitchen for meal preparation and the absolute tranquility that only a remote destination like Flores can provide. The village also organises activities for discovering nature and local culture for guests.
The central location of Aldeia da Cuada on the island allows you to easily explore points such as the Lakes of Flores, the Trail of Rocha dos Bordรตes and the most famous waterfalls on the island, making it an ideal base for a multi-day stay on Flores.
