Serra do Topo to Faja dos Vimes Trail

The Trail of Serra do Topo to Fajรฃ dos Vimes is considered one of the most spectacular hiking routes on Sรฃo Jorge and in the entire Azores archipelago, descending dramatically from the ridges shrouded in mist to the only fajรฃ in the world where coffee is cultivated, along a route of approximately 9 km with steep elevation that crosses cinematically beautiful landscapes. The trail is classified as PR and is properly marked throughout.
Departure is from Serra do Topo, where there is parking, and arrival is at Fajรฃ dos Vimes, where you can taste local coffee and await return transport. It is essential to organise the return logistics before departing, as the trail is mostly one-way downhill. Trekking shoes with good grip are indispensable, as is protection against wind and rain. The best time is between May and October.
