Faja dos Cubres

Fajรฃ dos Cubres is one of the most accessible and photogenic coastal platforms on Sรฃo Jorge, located on the north coast of the island and characterised by its brackish water lagoon, a protected habitat for migratory birds including herons and stilts. Access is via paved road, making this point ideal for visitors of all ages and mobilities.
Walking along the fajรฃ offers stunning views over the Atlantic and, on clear days, it is possible to spot the islands of Pico and Faial on the horizon. The lagoon is integrated into a natural reserve area, so it is important to respect the marked trails and not disturb local wildlife. Admission is free and parking is available near the main access.
Fajรฃ dos Cubres is just a few kilometres from Fajรฃ da Caldeira de Santo Cristo, making it possible to combine both on the same day of exploring the north coast of Sรฃo Jorge.
