Carapacho Hot Springs are one of the most singular bathing and therapeutic destinations on Graciosa, located on the south coast of the island next to the small locality of Carapacho. Here, thermal water of volcanic origin emerges directly next to the sea, feeding natural pools and thermal facilities that combine the therapeutic properties of sulphurous waters with the wild and solitary landscape of the basalt coastal strip. The thermal water temperature hovers around 32 to 35 degrees Celsius, making bathing pleasant even in the cooler months.

The Carapacho Hot Springs complex includes indoor thermal pools, changing rooms and a treatment space where it is possible to undergo hydrotherapy and other treatments based on the mineralising properties of local water. The outdoor natural pools, carved in basaltic rock next to the sea, offer a wilder and more contemplative experience, with the sound of Atlantic waves as a permanent backdrop. The contrast between hot thermal water and cool sea air is particularly invigorating.

The hot springs have a ticket office with differentiated prices between use of indoor and outdoor facilities, with access to outdoor pools more accessible. They are open throughout the year, with extended hours in the summer season. It is recommended to bring a towel and bathing clothes you don't mind staining with minerals, and check hours in advance. Carapacho Hot Springs naturally complement a visit to Sรฃo Mateus Beach, allowing you to combine conventional sea bathing on the same day with the unique thermal experience that distinguishes this island in the archipelago.
