Fajรฃ Grande is a coastal village on Flores with the geographical distinction of being the most western village of all continental and insular Portugal, located on the west coast of the island next to the Atlantic, known for its natural rock pools, waterfalls that descend in curtain from cliffs and an atmosphere of rural authenticity that time seems to have preserved. The village is the starting point for some of the best trails on Flores.
The natural pools of Fajรฃ Grande are a much-frequented beach destination in the summer months, with clean waters protected from ocean currents. The village has basic visitor support facilities, including a cafรฉ and local accommodation. Access to the fajรฃ is via paved road from the plateau of the island, with a panoramic descent along the slope.
