The Trail of the Coast of Corvo is the hiking route that reveals the wildest and most dramatic face of the smallest island of the Azores. Classified as PR2 COV, this circular trail of approximately 9 km travels the western and southern coastal strip of Corvo, exposing the hiker to steep cliffs, rock coves battered by the Atlantic, scrub vegetation of golden and green tones, and uninterrupted panoramas over the ocean. It is a route of moderate to high difficulty, with some sections on irregular terrain and exposed to wind, requiring appropriate hiking shoes and attention to weather conditions.

The trail departs from Vila do Corvo and can be started clockwise or counterclockwise. Average duration is 3 to 4 hours, not including stops. The most highlighted points of the route include Portรฃo Viewpoint, with views over the port and Flores, and several rocky platforms at sea level that serve as diving and artisanal fishing spots for locals โ€” the natural inhabitants of Corvo. There are no facilities along the trail, so it is mandatory to bring water, food and sun protection. The trail is marked with yellow and red marks.

The ideal season is May to September, with longer days and lower rainfall probability. In October and November, the trail gains an extra dimension for birdwatchers: the low scrub zones along the coast are frequented by rare migrant species. Combine this route with the Trail of the Caldera for a complete island experience, and explore the maritime side via the Corvo-Flores Boat Trip.
