The Natural Pools of Biscoitos are a set of pools formed by basaltic rocks on the north coast of the island of Terceira, in the Azores, recognised for the exceptional clarity of their waters and the austere beauty of the volcanic landscape that frames them. The name of the locality is due precisely to the black porous lava rocks that characterise the entire coastal strip of this zone.

The natural pools are divided into several tanks of varying depth, suitable for both adults and children. The water is naturally renewed by tides and Atlantic movement, remaining clean and oxygenated. The bathing area has support facilities such as changing rooms, a snacking area and a bar, being prepared to receive visitors during the summer season. Admission is paid but affordable.

The best time to visit the Natural Pools of Biscoitos is between June and September, when the sea is calmer and water temperatures are more inviting, around 20 to 23 degrees Celsius. It is recommended to use rubber shoes for walking on rocks and waterproof sunscreen. For a more complete visit to the north coast of the island, combine the stop with a meal of fresh fish in one of the local taverns in the village of Biscoitos, also famous for the production of fragrant wine. An authentic experience on Terceira.
